When I originally saw these Cheeseburger Sausage Rolls that Steph Cooks Shared I had to give them a go and I made mine in the airfryer to make it even easier to make. They are a great Weekend recipe when you feel like trying something new and mixing up classic flavours.

Ingredients
- 🍔 500g beef mince
- 🍔 1 tbsp garlic
- 🍔 Salt and pepper to taste
- 🍔 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 🍔 1 egg
- 🍔 1 cup breadcrumbs (I used panko)
-
🍔 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (or use burger cheese)
-
🍔 A handful Pickles Sliced
-
🍔 Approx. 8 tbsp Mustard
-
🍔 4 Puff pastry sheets
Directions
🍔 Add all ingredients in a bowl except mustard, pickles and onions & it a good mix around until combined
🍔 Cut pastry sheets in half lengthways, add mustard on the pastry and spread it out, about 1-2 tbsp per sheet, add diced onions, pickles then beef mixture and pull the sides together to seal
🍔 Flip over and cut into small square sausage rolls and pop some egg wash on top, you can also add some sesame seeds if you like
🍔 Bake in the airfryer or oven at 180°C for 20- 25mins or until golden and crispy and cooked through, the oven may take a few moments more
Recipe Note
Tips and FAQ's
- I used Panko crumbs when making mine but use any bread crumbs you like
- You can switch the flavours up by using burger sauce instead or use it as a dipping sauce
- The mustard can get soaked up a bit white cooking so you can serve it as a dipping sauce too
- I used the airfryer to make mine but you can use the oven too it may just take a few more minutes
- The original recipes adds the onions to the meat mixture but I like to add it on top to give more of that classic cheeseburger taste
Q: Can I freeze cheeseburger sausage rolls?
A: Yep! Freeze unbaked rolls on a tray, then transfer to a container. You can freeze the baked rolls but to be honest I actually find these taste much nicer fresh I don't feel they stay as nice as normal Sausage rolls the next day etc.
Q: What pastry should I use?
A: Puff pastry is perfect it gives that golden, flaky texture. Store-bought is easy and works great you can usually find it in the freezer section in Australian Supermarkets
Q: What kind of cheese works best?
A: Tasty cheddar, Colby or even American cheese slices give that classic burger flavour and melt well if you are using the sliced just sit it on top of the meat and make sure your pastry is sealed so it doesn't spill out .
