I love a good old toastie sandwich or grilled cheese as Americans call it & ham, cheese and tomato are a classic. But I decided to switch it up a little but and do half mozzarella & half cheddar cheese with added parmigiano on the outside and is is so good! You have to try it
Ingredients
- 🥪 20g of grated mozzarella I used the @lacasadelformaggio
-
🥪 20g or grated cheddar I used the @mainlandau aged cheddar
- 🥪 1/2 a tomato 🍅 sliced
-
🥪 A slice of ham I used some from my fruit
-
🥪 2 Slices of bread
-
🥪 A good spread of butter
Directions
- 🥪 Butter the outside of the bread and add your ham, tomato with a good dash of salt & pepper and then the grated cheese. Always add your cheese closest to the edge of the bread so it is easier to melt
- 🥪 Add buttered side down into your pan on lower heat, you want it to cook slowly to melt the cheese not a high heat. I use my big burner so keep it on low but if its a small burner you can do low-medium
🥪 Cook for a couple of mins, flip it and add a sprinkle of parmigiano or Parmesan on the side that is already lightly toasted while you cook it on the other side for a couple of minutes and repeat by flipping, adding parmigiano, cooking the other side for a couple of mins then flip to crisp up the next parmigiano side
- Serve straight away and enjoy 😊

Expert Tips, Variations & FAQs:
- If you are using a pan like mine only put the parmigiano or parmesan cheese part way through cooking otherwise it can easily burn. If you are using a sandwich press or jaffle maker you can add it on straight away
- Use Gluten Free bread as an alternative if needed
- If possible grate your own mozzarella and cheddar as the flavours are much nicer
- You can add a mayo or avocado as well if you like
