These smashed tacos or burgers or burger tacos whatever you want to call them are a great dinner option. And they are actually super light so make for a great option when you want a burger but also something lighter for dinner.
Ingredients
-
200g Beef Mince
- 6 - 8 Lettuce Leaves *Note 1
- 2 Small Wraps I use Simson Pantry Wholemeal *Note 2
-
2 Tbsp Burger Sauce (I use Heinz)
-
Approx. 2 Tbsp of Burger Pickles *See note 3
-
4 Slices Burger Cheese *See note 4
- Salt and Pepper to taste
-
¼ of Brown Onion Diced Small
Directions
🍔 Add about 100g (depending on your wrap size) of mince meat on your wrap, pushed down to flatten out about 1-2mm in thickness, you want it as a thin layer not a thick layer of mince
🍔 Add your wrap meat side down to the pan on a medium heat (not too hot) & cook for a few minutes mine took about 4 minutes, then flip over as it will cook the wrap side & help with any excess liquid cook for about another 2 minutes & when you flip it add 2 slices of your cheese I use 2 slices per wrap. You want to add it when you flip it so it can melt a little
🍔 Once meat is cooked through add on your chopped onions, pickles, lettuce & burger sauce and a dash of salt & pepper and enjoy straight away

@_ashleysplace_ Smash Burgers 🍔 I finally tried this viral recipe and it actually was delicious I’ll be honest I was hesitant as I thought it might be a bit oily, but it wasn’t A couple or tips & follow @_ashleysplace_ for more recipes & inspo 🍔 Don’t add any oil to your pan the oil from the meat is enough 🍔 Put the meat all the away to the edge I should of added a bit more as it shrinks 🍔 Make your layer of meat not too thick a thin layer is perfect and try to make it nice & even 🍔 A good quality leaner meat is good so its not too oily & if you defrost it squeeze the excess liquid out & cook it on medium heat not too hot How to make it: 🍔 Add about 100g (depending on your wrap size) of mince meat on your wrap i used @simsonspantry (they are great as they held their shape) pushed down to flatten out & heat your pan to a medium heat (not too high) 🍔 Add your wrap meat side down to the pan & cook for a few minutes mine took about 4 minutes, then flip over & add 2 slices of your cheese of choice I used Burger cheese from @grimabroswholesale as it will cook the wrap side & help with any excess liquid cook for about another 2 minutes 🍔 Once meat is cooked through add on your chopped onions, pickles, lettuce & sauce I used @heinz_au burger sauce but you could use tomato & mustard if you want more cheeseburger style Serve and eat right away so they don’t go too hard These are a great way to switch up burger nights 😍 #ashleysplace #ashleysplacetips #camdennsw #lovelocalcamden #macarthur #lovelocalmacarthur #cooking #cookingwithash #food #recipe #smashburger #burgers #viralrecipe #cheeseburger #foodblogger #foodblog #dinner #dinneridea #dinnerrecipe #smashburgers #mince #mincemeat #recipeshare #recipereels #bakingtok #foodtok #cookingtok #recipetiktok #recipetok ♬ original sound - Ashleys Place

FAQs & Notes:
- I used cos lettuce and about 3 lettuce leaves per taco but it depends on the size of your leaves. You want a good amount of lettuce to bulk this out.
- I use the Simsons Pantry Wholemeal Wraps but I love wholemeal, you can use any of your fav wraps or even soft shell tacos to make these. If your wrap is bigger you will likely need more mince. My Wrap is approx. 42g in size. The amount of mince depends on your wrap size so if your wraps or tacos are smaller use less mince. You only want a layer that is about 1-2mm thick so nice and thin and even.
- You can add as many or as little burger pickles as you like. I add a layer onto the whole wrap but I love pickles so you can leave it off if you like.
- I like to use burger cheese which if you are in Australia you can get from most supermarkets or fruit shops/delis. Its quite an orangey colour which isn't our usual cheese colour but it does taste like a cheese you would have on a good cheeseburger.
- I don't add oil to this as it shouldn't need it the mince produces enough oil so it shouldn't stick. If you have a sticky pan though you may need some but try to not add any as it can make it get a bit soggy
Q. Can I make these ahead of time?
A. I wouldn't recommend it as they are best eaten hot, you could prep the salad etc before hand and the mince get it mixed but I would cook these fresh to be eaten fresh and hot
Q. Can I add more salad
A. Yes definitely, I kept this as a simple burger version but you can add tomatoes, capsicum or cucumber whatever you like
Q. Can I use different sauce
A. Yep, I recently made this more of a classic cheeseburger taste with mustard and tomato sauce
